New 2026 air conditioner range: what Daikin, Mitsubishi, Toshiba and Atlantic are launching for summer
The Proclimo team
25 Jul 2026 - 10 min read
The major French and Japanese brands have unveiled their new reversible air conditioning ranges for summer 2026: Daikin Perfera FTXM-R, Mitsubishi MSZ-AIR, Toshiba Haori, Atlantic Takao M3, Hitachi Shirokuma and Fujitsu Designer Curve. The programme: SEER up to 8.65, SCOP up to 5.3, Matter connectivity, and an average installed price down 8 to 12% compared to 2024. Here is the complete Proclimo comparison to understand what really changes — and how to choose the right model before the next heatwave.
Why 2026 is a pivotal year for reversible AC
Three forces converge to make 2026 an exceptional vintage for equipment:
- The 5.5% VAT came into force on 18 July 2026 (order of 13 July 2026, OJ of 17 July 2026) on class A+ and A++ reversible air-to-air heat pumps installed by a professional. That is a 14.5-point reduction compared with the standard rate. See our detailed article on the 5.5% VAT on reversible air conditioning.
- The F-Gas Regulation 2024/573 now bans high-GWP refrigerants (R-410A) in new equipment, pushing manufacturers to generalise R-32 (GWP 675) and to prepare the arrival of R-454C and R-290 propane on 2026 high-end models. Details in our panorama of the F-Gaz R32 2026 regulation.
- The maturity of Matter home automation platforms finally enables reliable interoperability between Daikin Onecta, Mitsubishi MelCloud, Toshiba Home AC and Atlantic Cozytouch — no more walled gardens.
In concrete terms, for €100 spent in 2024 on an air-to-air heat pump, you spend in 2026 between €88 and €92 for 15 to 25% better performance.
What each brand has released in 2026
Daikin Perfera FTXM-R and Stylish FTXA: the leader consolidates
Daikin, world number one, has replaced in 2026 the Perfera FTXM range with the FTXM-R (available since April 2026) with an improved Flash Streamer filter (breaks down allergens, mould, viruses), a record SEER of 8.65 (A+++) and a SCOP of 5.1 to 5.2 (A+++). The indoor unit drops to 19 dB(A) in silent mode.
- Stylish FTXA range (premium design, available in black, silver, wood, matte white): from €2,000 incl. VAT installed in 2.5 kW.
- Perfera FTXM-R range (best-seller): from €1,800 incl. VAT installed in 2.5 kW.
- Connectivity: built-in Wi-Fi, Onecta application (formerly Daikin Online Controller), Matter 1.3 compatible since the May 2026 firmware update.
For installation and manufacturer warranties (5-year compressor, 2-year parts), see our air conditioning installation service.
Mitsubishi MSZ-AIR and MSZ-LN Kirigamine Zen: the silence benchmark
Mitsubishi Electric relies on Hyper Heating technology that maintains 100% of its power at -15 °C outside — a plus for harsh winters in northern and eastern France.
- MSZ-AIR (mid-range): SEER 8.5, SCOP 4.7 (A++ in heating), built-in MelCloud Wi-Fi. Sound level 19 dB(A) in silent mode. Indicative price 2.5 kW: €1,900 incl. VAT installed.
- MSZ-LN Kirigamine Zen (high-end, Japanese design): SEER 9.1, SCOP 4.9, Plasma Quad Plus filtration. Indicative price 2.5 kW: €2,800 incl. VAT installed.
- Matter compatibility: announced for end of 2026 via MelCloud Bridge.
Toshiba Haori and Daiseikai 9: smart thermal inertia
Toshiba has rethought in 2026 its Haori textile range with a fabric covering (5 colour options: taupe, grey, midnight blue, terracotta, charcoal) that reduces acoustic perception and blends into any interior.
- Haori: SCOP 5.1, SEER 8.5, Toshiba Home AC Wi-Fi. Indicative price 2.5 kW: €2,200 incl. VAT installed.
- Daiseikai 9 (high-end): SCOP 5.3 (A+++), SEER 9.2. Indicative price 2.5 kW: €2,700 incl. VAT installed.
- Key feature: the "Magic Coil" function preheats the compressor before switching to heating mode, avoiding the cold snap at start-up.
Atlantic Takao M3 and ASYG: the French choice
A French manufacturer (production site in Billy-Berclau, 62), Atlantic focuses on made in France and a 5-year parts warranty (instead of 2 at most Asian competitors).
- Takao M3: SEER 8.5, SCOP 5.3 (2026 record), Cozytouch Wi-Fi (Atlantic Thermostat compatible). Indicative price 2.5 kW: €2,500 incl. VAT installed.
- ASYG 7-9-12 (entry-level): SCOP 4.6, more accessible at €1,600 incl. VAT installed.
- Matter compatibility: Cozytouch Bridge available since February 2026, Matter 1.4 compatibility confirmed.
Hitachi Shirokuma and Fujitsu Designer Curve: the outsiders to watch
- Hitachi Shirokuma ("white bear"): SCOP 5.0, ultra-thin 185 mm depth design, €1,700 incl. VAT installed in 2.5 kW. Very good value for money.
- Fujitsu Designer Curve: SEER 8.7, SCOP 4.9, distinctive curved look. €1,950 incl. VAT installed in 2.5 kW. Brand distributed by Atlantic in France.
Comparison table of 2026 ranges (mono-split 2.5 kW)

Reading: a SCOP of 5.1 (A+++) means that for 1 kWh of electricity consumed, the heat pump delivers 5.1 kWh of heat. At €0.25/kWh and 1,800 heating hours (Oct-Apr), a SCOP 5.1 costs ~€88/year versus ~€110/year for a SCOP 4.5. Over 15 years, the gap is nearly €350.
Matter connectivity: what really changes in 2026
The Matter standard (1.3 in 2026, 1.4 announced for November 2026) is now supported by Daikin Onecta, Toshiba Home AC, Atlantic Cozytouch and Fujitsu. Mitsubishi via MelCloud is arriving at the end of 2026, Hitachi in 2027. In concrete terms, this means:
- Unified control from Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or Home Assistant without a manufacturer app.
- Home automation scenarios: "if indoor temperature > 26 °C and presence detected, cool to 23 °C".
- Compatibility with the Linky meter (off-peak/peak hours) to optimise consumption in auto mode — see our article on new summer off-peak hours 2026.
- Regulatory prerequisite: from 1 January 2027, the European Cyber Resilience Act will require a CE cybersecurity marking for all connected equipment. The 2026 Matter-compatible models are already compliant.
The technical innovations that make a difference
Fine modulation inverter
The new 2026 ranges all use high-frequency modulation inverter compressors (16 kHz PWM sine waves) that adjust power from 5% to 100% continuously, compared to 30-40% steps on older models. Result:
- Temperature stability: ±0.3 °C around the setpoint (vs. ±1 to 1.5 °C before).
- Reduced noise: no compressor yo-yo.
- Extended lifespan: fewer brutal on/off cycles.
Advanced filtration
- Daikin Flash Streamer: breaks down allergens (pollens, dust mites), moulds and even certain viruses by photocatalytic reaction. Proven 99.9% effectiveness on feline coronavirus (recognised proxy).
- Mitsubishi Plasma Quad Plus: electrostatic filter capturing PM2.5 and ultrafine particles.
- Toshiba Magic Coil: permanent anti-mould coating.
- Atlantic Takao M3: activated carbon filter + anti-formaldehyde filter.
For allergy sufferers, see our dedicated article on air conditioning and allergies / indoor air quality.
Energy-saving features
- "Smart Eco" mode (Daikin): reduces power by 20% when the room is unoccupied (detected by infrared sensor).
- "Econo Cool" (Mitsubishi): horizontal ventilation instead of lowering the temperature, saving 20% on the bill.
- "Floor Warming" (Toshiba): radiant floor heating mode for the mid-season.
- "Away mode" (all brands): maintains 8 °C in winter, 30 °C in summer to avoid straining the compressor during an extended absence — see our guide to prepare your air conditioning before a holiday departure.

The regulatory point not to forget in 2026
Refrigerant: the end of R-410A and the rise of R-32
Since 1 January 2026, the placing on the market of new air conditioners with R-410A (GWP 2,088) is banned in the European Union. R-32 (GWP 675) remains authorised but will be progressively taxed. The 2026 ranges all use R-32, and some high-end models (Daikin Stylish 2026, Mitsubishi MSZ-LN 2026) are already available in R-454C (GWP 148) or R-290 propane (GWP 3) from autumn 2026. Details in our article on R-32 refrigerant and alternatives and the R-290 propane sheet.
Capacity attestation: mandatory for installation
Since the January 2025 reform, any installer handling more than 5 tonnes CO₂ equivalent of refrigerant must hold a capacity attestation of category A1, A2, B, C, D or E. Categories A1 (high GWP HFC fluids) and A2 (R-32, residual R-410A) are the most common. See our panorama of the 2026 refrigerant capacity attestation reform. All our Proclimo technicians hold categories A1, A2 and B.
2026 energy label: the new F class disappears
Since 1 March 2026, the energy label scale for reversible air conditioners has been redesigned: classes A+++ to A+ are retained, but class F (old pre-2014 models) has been completely removed from the market. See our article on the new 2026 air conditioner energy label and the RGE 2026 reform.
Our Proclimo 2026 verdict
For a T2/T3 in the Paris region with a budget of €2,000 to €2,500 all inclusive, the Daikin Perfera FTXM-R 25 remains our safe 2026 bet: SCOP 5.1, A+++, Flash Streamer, Matter, 5-year compressor warranty, dense after-sales network in France.
For a high-end design project with no budget constraint, the Mitsubishi MSZ-LN Kirigamine Zen or the Toshiba Daiseikai 9 offer the best absolute performance on the market, with a SCOP of 4.9 to 5.3.
For eco-renovations and new BBC homes, the Atlantic Takao M3 (made in France, SCOP 5.3, 5-year warranty) is unbeatable in quality / carbon footprint / after-sales ratio.
And if your budget is limited, don't go below the Hitachi Shirokuma or the Atlantic ASYG: an €800 installed budget air conditioner will cost you more over 5 years than a €2,000 A+++ — it's the same economic calculation as for portable monoblocs: quality costs, but so does energy savings.
